(how i love.)

there are books
that i’ve bought
that i was excited to own
and i took them home
and looked through them a bit
scanned them
read the first couple chapters
and they just ended up
on my shelf

and when i got low on money
i took them back
to the trade-in store

sometimes months later
as i browsed the shelves
of the trade-in store
i would see that book again
looking as sweet as candy
and want it

i’ll think to myself
“i used to own this.
has been in my home.
i should buy it.
it belongs to me.”

but i know
if i bought that book again
i would just be wasting my money
and her time

  1. Love it, because I have an obnoxious habit of buying books and then pretending to have read them! I spent the past few years claiming to have read the Twilight series and didn’t even get around to New Moon until this past week when I was snowed in. Hahah. 🙂

  2. Wow. I wish I had read this several months ago when I was wanting to/about to re-buy something I should have just let go of. Dang you universe, sending me things too late ! 🙂 Very good btw.
