EDEN

on each side of Eden
they load their fists
outside of the gates

they wait, they burn, they die

while inside the garden
the green plants turn brown

they wait, they burn, they die

they march on starving
while inside the garden of Eden
the snake eats away at
the apple

  1. I like the image of the waiting menace outside of Eden.

I highly doubt this is your main intention, but I can’t shake a possible political reading of this with Eden a metaphor for the US of A, and certain (perhaps many) angry ‘not-us’ people were milling around angrily at the gates while within Eden all is not well.
