hi. my name is brice maiurro. and i am here to tell you why you should follow my blog.
i will begin my something-part argument by saying that i may or may not be a little inebriated, thus making me easy to relate to. whether or not you are a little inebriated right now, or care to lie to yourself on said matter, i think you’ll find we have a lot in common. other things we may have in common: i love Love, some people, and music. my favorite kind of music is… all of them. if you don’t like music, you need not apply, unless you still feel a strong desire to do so. i write poetry. for those of you out there who went to high school, common to what’s been crammed up your mental asshole, poetry is not a bunch of pretentious white british assholes commenting on the existential nature of butterflies and the consequential consequences that may thus incur from the artificial conscientious beauty we craft of nature in our bloody mindholes. poetry is about honesty. it’s about being willing to admit that you’ve had a half a bottle of wine and are sitting in a shit t-shirt in a basement apartment in an unimportant city in littleton sweating balls as you write this rant that you may not have had the tenacity to write while you are sober.
which brings me to my next point. did i mention i am devilishly handsome? i won’t post a picture, but just imagine, my hair that falls as gracefully as doctor who’s and my six pack abs and my pearl white smile. that’s me. sorta kinda. which brings me to my next point. i am here to break down the walls of anonymity. i want to crash into the glass walls of museums and ride the taxidermy bears into the dawn of ecstasy. join me. follow my blog. hear my rambles. see my dearest friend of a doodle, Rant the Ant, and the situations I force upon him, whether he likes it or not, because isn’t that exactly how we should be living our lives?
Nicely said.
Thanks, Rhys.
I love you.
And through that too, I will still love you.
β€
and this is why I love the internet.
Thanks for following my blog! I’ll have to check your page out a bit more, but I started here and have to say my favorite part was “i will begin my something-part argument by saying that i may or may not be a little inebriated, thus making me easy to relate to.” Lol, so true.
Thanks, Rachel. Glad to have connected.
Thanks for stopping by my blog, Bruce. Good luck with your poetry writing and cold place living. take care!
Haha. It’s not as cold as you might think. Thanks by stopping by, someone.
I am convinced. Unfortunately not inebriated at this moment but give me a couple of hours. Like the take on poetry – bang on.
I like your poetry. Thanks for following my blog so I could discover yours. Looking forward to receiving more.
Nice stuff Brice & like the person before thanks for checking my stuff. I have checked a few poems. I like what I’ve read…
Thank you very much.
welll … you got me hooked π x
Yay!
Thanks for the follow: I’m a Bukowski fan too. One question though: what if your version of honest is mediocre and you really love butterflies ;-)…that’s not me, but just a thought…
Then you write about butterflies! I think that’s the goal is to be honest and entertaining.
You had me at taxidermy bears.
Woohoo taxidermy bears!
First profile I’ve read here by someone I have never met that I found very, very interesting. Um, me no get drunk no more. Been there, done that, no can do no more, don’t wanna. But all my heroes have. Bukowski, for one. Raymond Carver, for another. Amy Winehouse, rip. BTW, not all pretentious assholes are white Brits. They come in all colors from all over the world, but I dig what you mean. Yup, poetry is truth and beauty, beauty and truth, even when it’s ugly. That’s my interpretation of “negative capability”.
I’ve never read Raymond Carver! I’m glad we connected on here! Yeah, I see what you’re saying about the white brit comment. There are pretentious assholes in every culture. Thanks for the follow!
You are my second favorite thing about being on WordPress.
Thank you! Now I have to ask. What is your first?
I like posting my poetry to strangers while feeling like a part of a writing community. When people who don’t know you read what you write, they see themselves in it or (hopefully) just enjoy it. When people who think they know you read what you write, they are busy reading too much into it and miss the point all together. My first favorite thing about being on WordPress is that it frees me from the latter.
I actually wanted to reply to what okieroy said below:
Yes! I get that!
Your words are a poet lovers treasurebox. Amazing work.
and by my last post, you should be able to tell I’m inebriated …lol
haha. Fantastic. Cheers.
thank you Brice. It is a gift to be able to tell all the layers that happen between the lines of a couple’s conversation. And to do it well. It is not easy to always see so much, I am glad you are creating. Blesssings, christalaos
OK…
I’m sold.
Yay!
Brill words π Thanks for the follow, looking forward to seeing more of your works! Intoxication by words is one of the best ways to get drunk π
Man after my own heart.
be well, brother
Back at you, friend.
We’re riding the same wave. Look forward to exploring your words more. Intensity, ferocity, contradiction, allowing day to break and the storm to hollow out the sky simultaneously. Sweet release.
Woohoo!
OK, I’m in. Do your worst π
Get out! Get out while you can!!!
Butterflies are good topic for poetry, and no even if I am not like you, I may still like your blog and you are anonymous, and me too that much is alike, but..looks will talk about that perhaps not here…at wordpress..we press the key board and words they appear and disappear..but one thing is good about your blog..the ad is great..this one says,”thousands of teensin foster care would love to put up with you” do you think this message was directed to you, I mean directly.Yes..I will follow you..sort of shadow creepy type..they call it stalking…
Taxidermy bears, eh? If only they’d had these at the theater.
You had me at doctor who π
Woohoo!
Hm. Inebriated. Good enough for me! Best reasons anyone has ever given me to follow their blog, so I definitely plan to dig further into your tales and am keen to meet Rant the Ant. I definitely plan on joining you in riding of taxidermy bears. Sounds like one hell of an adventure! I’m game.
Hello! I know this is kinda off topic but I was wondering
if you knew where I could get a captcha plugin for my comment form?
I’m using the same blog platform as yours and I’m having difficulty finding one?
Thanks a lot!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. What you’ve got going on here is great (and I’m not at all inebriated when I say that ha ha)!
jus read this again to remind myself of who i’m following π
got a spare glass or better yet, a lighter? π
Well I was already following you and after reading this again, I will unfollow you then follow you again. I love how you define poetry “poetry is about honesty” – Keep it up!
Thanks, man. Thanks for reading.
Hi, just wanted to mention, I enjoyed this article. It was funny.
Keep on posting!
I rarely follow people at all, and definitely not to compensate if they’ve followed me. But you’re rad and so you win. I haven’t had a half bottle of wine, but I wouldn’t mind a glass. π
Cheers. π
hi Brice, you might remember me, I used to sing your praises, tonight I sang them to the University of Pennsylvania, where I’m taking a course on Modern American Poetry, I told them I thought you were the future of poetry, check it out, (https://class.coursera.org/modernpoetry-003/forum/thread?thread_id=2831#comment-20804) – cheers, Richard
So, I’ve never read this, but now that I have, you need to be my friend.
-Sara
Deal!
You also need to submit to our magazine. Ahem
http://thepaperplanepilots.com/2014/10/13/call-for-submissions-issue-two/
Will do! Thanks for mentioning it!
Thanks for considering it!
this looks like it’s going to be interesting…
Welcome!
Think I know who you mean when you say – ‘white British assholes’
Hahahahahahaha
“I paint to defy death” – Artist Harold Town
The ‘Thanksgiving’ Burroughs video you posted was chilling. My take on things is not that black, but he does enumerate so many of the evils we have unleashed. As a Canadian, I think this is not really America’s fault. We here have done and still do all the same mindless killing of wild creatures. Here we also have attempted massive cultural genocide of our first nations people. But more broadly i see this as the face of colonization in the broadest sense – a willingness by the people holding power to destroy anything they/we do not care to understand or which might cause us to question our own actions ‘then’ or now.
I agree. Personally, my writing isn’t as good sober. Then I wake up the next morning in a panic wondering “what the hell did I write last night?!?”. By the time I log in I always find out my drunk writing is liked more because it’s raw, so I let it be and live. You’re awesome. π
Well thank you!
